Tattoo anyone?

It was almost 2 p.m. when I woke up. I was up the whole day yesterday until 6 a.m. this morning updating my blog Caroleen's Treasures. I overheard Ella talking on the line with my friend's daughter, York. After chatting, she went inside the room and complained that there's no cartoons on tv today. Then in a second, Ella smiled and said "I'll just watch my cd's!" Well, the people around complained because she's watching Secret Garden over and over again. Donald and my younger sister watched another movie instead and that made her quacking and quacking all the time. Not making a fuss but going around trying to find something to do.
I was working with my blog when Ella cried out, "tattoo anyone?!?!" She asked her daddy but refused to have one. I looked around and found everyone busy on their own thing. So I let Ella put tatoo in my arm just to make her mouth shut. Here's what her tattoo looked like. It's actually a body paint. She used watercolor and cotton tips to brush it on my arm. She had made a butterfly on my right arm and a flower on the left.

Our Family Portrait

This is our family portrait drawn by Ella on our desktop. She is so creative! Isn't it cute? She had made lots of portraits and I will post it some other time if I have the time to set up the scanner. Donald packed it already in the box ready for our move. We will be moving from Davao to Agusan but we are still waiting for the truck that will load our things. We are waiting for 9 days now and its good that the truck hasn't arrived yet from Agusan because we will be going home to our hometown in Kabacan, Cotabato for the funeral of my cousin who died last tuesday. When I got a call about it, I told everyone that our cousin hung himself and was found dead. I told Ella about it too. She said she will make flowers for my cousin and after several minutes she was done.

Nobody taught her this. Maybe she saw an arrangement of flowers that looks like this on the funerals we have attended. She seems to have a photographic memory :-)

Promises were not made to be Broken

Last wednesday, Donald and I (with Ella in tow) went downtown to inquire about the advertisement about the new promo on internet connection. We were already downtown when Ella asked me if we are going to "downtown" which later on I understood that she meant MALLS. I asked her why, she whispered "I'm gonna buy projects." Projects is what she calls for paper, glue, yarn, crayons, colored pens, water colors, pencil, scissors and anything that she could use for her "art attack". We went inside SM and agreed that Donald will go ahead and find where to apply for a connection, while I and Ella went to the school's supplies department. Had I forgotten about my promise to her to buy her "projects", I have not gone with her to look for "projects". I promised her two weeks ago that we will buy coloring book and crayons. This is what she got. Really giant coloring book! Maybe you're wondering why I promised her crayons and coloring book...here's the story:
Two weeks ago We were in Trento, Agusan del Sur (3 hour ride from Davao City) for the monthly visit to the congregation there. I was asked to teach the children and I decided to teach about "creation". I asked Donald to buy cardboard and I drew pictures so I could have at least a decent visual aid. Day 1 is very easy to draw. Just black and white. Day 2 is just as easy as the first, I drew sky and the sea and colored it blue. I managed to draw fishes and birds (with large bellies :-) wonder how they can fly with that :-)) Then came the flowers, grass and trees. I am good with that. The next: animals. Whew! I spent almost 30 minutes trying to make my giraffe not to look like a dog with long a neck. What I did is let Ella draw animals and she did it with no sweat! :-) Snake, bear, dolphin, giraffe, dog, cat and crocodile. She is very creative and very imaginative. I have compiled all her "art attack things" on a folder and will give it to her on her 18th birthday. I had a wonderful presentation because of her obra maestra and the kids enjoyed my story. But that's not the reason why she got "projects".
After our class, I have to leave them busy so they won't be running around during the worship. I have to be there because Donald will be giving the message. I asked Ella if she could let the other kids use her crayons and her own coloring books to keep everyone busy. Good thing that she brought along 3 coloring books and 2 sets of crayons. If you think that is the reason, you are definitely right. :-)

The Princess

This blog will be about my princess Daniella Cassandra whom we fondly call Ella. She will be turning five in June 2. She is the darling of our family. Our firstborn and the first grandchild of my parents. Join me as I reminisce every precious moments of her life.

Ella with daddy Donald, before her first professional haircut, I usually trim her hair since she turned one. I remember one night when she was still three, I am sewing the edges of my hand painted wall decors and her daddy is helping me out looking for my bobbin' winds. Ella asked if I had a pair of scissors and I answered "yes". She asked is she could borrow it and I said I did not know where it was just to cut the conversation. I don't let her get hold of my scissors because I dreaded for "one thing". That she might cut her hair!

I went on with my sewing and her daddy was still looking where my boxes of winds were. There was silence in the room when suddenly she exclaimed "Wow! Ganda ganda ko na!" (Wow! I am very pretty now!). I looked around and there she was, standing on a chair infront of the mirror with a pair of scissors in her right hand and hair all over her toes. I almost faint because I and her daddy wanted her hair long. I just trimmed the ends every year with no distinct changes. That night, she had cut her hair on the sides three inches shorter!

That was the night that changed Ella and me. She never did make use of scissors to cut her hair or a piece of paper that might be important. She always asks permission to cut a paper or a cardboard that she uses in her "art attack" thing. I also, on the other hand, never worry about Ella, her hair and the scissor.
